Tips for More website Traffic

Driving traffic to your website is no longer as simple as it was a few years ago when internet marketing was still in its infancy. Long ago, if you wanted to promote your site, all you need was a few well-placed keywords and a few Meta tags and then the search engines will do the rest. Today, there are hundreds of thousands of sites all promoting the same thing and essentially competing for the top spot in search engine results.

Not everyone can hire a whole team to manage their SEO efforts to make sure of high rankings, that doesn’t mean though that you should give up because there are still a lot of ways in which you can drive traffic to your site. The trade off is that whatever you save monetarily with these efforts, you pay for in time. So ultimately, it’s up to you to decide which tasks are worth your time and which tasks are worth delegating to someone else.

* Update your signatures – Everyone has some sort of presence in forums or discussion boards. Always include your website address in your signature so that every post you make will link back to your page, this is a one-time setup that can help you increase your traffic tremendously. If you are extra helpful in some sites, people will eventually get curious and will click your link.

* Offline Promotion – The first thing you should do is to include your website URL in your business cards. Whenever you’re out at an event , party, gathering or convention, give them out, people are naturally curious and they’ll check out your site when they get home. Another way would be to give away shirts, mugs and other promo materials to your existing readers making them walking billboards for your website.

* Use viral content – If you find something out there that you think has the potential to go viral then you should try your best to create that content. Once something goes viral, you’ll have so many hits that you’ll not know what to do with it all. This can be anything from a picture, video or article, all you need is that initial push to give it that momentum to create that viral chain reaction.

* Swap links – If you see a website that’s in the same niche as you, try and contact the webmaster and see if he’s willing to swap links. Other people see it as competition but most webmasters are actually pretty nice people and are open to swapping links as long as there’s mutual benefit. If both pages are optimally optimized for each other then there’s a big chance that the swap will help both sites hit top ranks.

* Optimize your content – This is the most time consuming tip of them all as you must go over each and every one of your pages to see if they conform to standard Search Engine Optimization rules. Check if your content adheres to those rules and if they score high on various engines. I can’t list all of those rules here but if ever you need help looking for a certain rule then be thankful that Google is there to help.
