You can brush up on your English skills by enrolling in an English course at your local community college. Once you are ready to start writing for a living, you can get information on companies that are hiring through work at home forums.

You must create a resume. List any writing that you have done, including research papers completed in college. Submit an application to the writing companies listed on the forum. You may have to supply a writing sample. Some companies will pick out the sample for you or you can include one of you own. They will rate your article so that they can decide what type of writer you are. The higher rating you attain, the more money you can make per article. While you’re waiting on your acceptance, post your availability on the forum to obtain work.

You may be asked to fill out a W-2 form once accepted. Once the company receives your W-2, you can start taking work. Most companies will permit you to take one article at a time. You must meet the deadline or the article will be placed back in the pool of other articles. You can write as many articles a day that you like.

You can write for more than one company as well. Just make sure that you can meet each company’s deadline. You may want to work mainly for the companies that pay you more for your articles. This way you won’t get burned out, but still make decent money.

A daily goal of how much you want to make should be set. For instance, if you want to make $50 a day and one of your companies pays $10 an article, you will need to complete five articles before the end of the day. On the other hand, if you work for a low paying company, you may have to work extra harder to make $50 a day.
