Internet Marketing-10 Precautions For The Beginner
It’s important to remain focused in internet marketing and always look ahead. Here are 10 unwritten rules for the beginner that will keep you on target and not allow you to be led astray.
1. What are the advantages of creating and building your own business online? Firstly your office is open for business twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This makes it possible to work whenever you want for as long as you want! When you get comfortable enough to run your business on auto-pilot you’ll be able to enjoy more leisure activities and spend some quality time with your family. Secondly, the work at home scenario is often less stressful and to a great degree how much you work determines how much you are rewarded. Perish the thought of the “Get Rich Overnight” scams that are everywhere. View your online business as you would an offline business. If you want to be successful be committed and maintain a positive attitude while you slowly build the foundation for your business.
2. Don’t think money, think longevity when it comes to setting up your own online home business. You don’t want to spend needless hours setting up a ramshackle foundation of sorts just have it crumble in your face in a few months. If you’re like most of us and want to let the “day job” go then you need to do this right. Keep your mind focused in the right direction, set time aside to learn and do this on a consistent basis. If you can devote one hour per day to learning a new internet skill, it will help you immensely. Make spare time on a weekend to get through whatever learning curve you may be experiencing. It will be worth it in the long run when you are able to spend quality time with friends and family.
3. NEVER…get involved in ‘get paid to read email’ sites–they are scams and you won’t earn a penny. They won’t even answer your emails of complaint! MLM too, or in fact any website telling you that your money will be doubled or tripled in a matter of days, or you will become rich over night, are scams. Avoid them!! It’s not difficult to find bona fide marketers on the Internet. Look for offline contact points. An address or telephone number is a good sign they are genuine. Another good test is to send them an email before you sign up to see how efficiently they reply. Avoid the ‘Get-Rich-Quick’ schemes–they don’t work!
4. If I had a “guarded secret” of how to make thousands of dollars per day on the internet, would I tell you? The answer is a resounding “no”. The internet does not have secrets, it does have information though that you either know about or don’t know about. So when you see the advertisements about “earning $75K monthly on auto-pilot”, please don’t click any further. You and I both know when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Stay safe on the internet and steer clear of the ridiculous hype.
5. I wish I could find a internet millionaire who would really take me by the hand and show me step-by-step how his ebook earned him a six-figure income. Grow up! How many times have we (I said we) clicked the “buy now” button only to be disappointed with an ebook that couldn’t make a $1K much less $1 Million. I hope that we’ve all learned by now that an internet business takes some work to set up. Nothing is hard unless you make it hard. Often we mistake hard for different.
6. Don’t pay too much attention to images of earnings checks or bank statements purportedly demonstrating how much the account holder has earned. It is a simple task to create whatever documents you want with a little creativity. The same goes for letters of recommendation or testimonials. Anyone can write them or get their colleagues to do them a favor! They may con some of the people some of the time, but don’t let it be you!
7. If you study the successful internet marketer you’ll find they share a simple quality. Commitment! They are committed to being successful and they do not give up when presented with an obstacle. They are kind of people who stay focused and keep a positive attitude. When confronted with a learning curve they embrace it until they “get it”! It’s not about the instant income, it’s about the residual income. Auto-pilot does exist, but not until you’ve learned the processes.
8. Be organized! Keep all your business activities logged and documents filed in the correct folders. Check your email accounts at least once daily and file the important ones. Don’t be frightened to name a file or folder with a long name (within reason). You should be able to access any file, folder, software or email within 30 seconds. So much time can be saved with a tidy desktop! As my Mom says, “a place for everything, and everything in it’s place”.
9. Stick to the basic etiquette of Internet Marketing. Don’t be tempted to send out high volume unsolicited email (spam). It won’t be worth the hassle, believe me! Read the Terms and Conditions section when you join a program and if you decide to sign up, then adhere to those terms. You will make useful contacts during your Internet campaigns. Try not to ‘step on toes’ and remain courteous and helpful.
10. Do not leave any large sums of money in any online marketing or promotional website. You should know that the majority of websites have a strict policy on spamming. If you are ever accused of spamming (sending unsolicited emails) you could have your account closed by the website owner and lose your funds as well.
Well, that’s about it! I just wanted to provide some simple guidelines for you to follow while you are active on the web. All this in an attempt to make sure that your internet marketing experience is safe and enjoyable!
