I guess I am just an “old fogie. ” Social media for me was as abstract as a foreign language. Those over 50 have mostly developed relationships over the phone or one-on-one. That has all certainly changed with the advent of the internet. To think one can market effectively as an affiliate over the internet it has become essential to learn social media. Get used to it! Without viral or near viral contacts, internet marketing will not move ahead at a decent pace. One must be connected using social media to meet online marketing goals.

It seems if one joins a social medium such as Facebook or My Space friends begin popping out of the woodwork. New friends are found and shared by a broad base of socializing surfers. We spend so much time today with our computers that one-on-one time with friends and acquaintances is beginning to shift to connecting online. Friend base is expanded as each friend has friends of his own and those friends become friends of the marketer.

The affiliate marketer must use the power of the internet to connect online with dozens or thousands of potential customers. Your popularity online always begins with a “presence” that includes social media. The more friends you have or people you know, the more sales you will have and the more successful you will become as a marketer. The more that follow and like you the more your affiliations will thrive and thus you become an expert among your following. Like nuclear fission! One little input makes for a big blast.

The lifeblood of popular marketers are multiple connections or “back links” that point you the marketer’s site. If multiple online links can be established simultaneously (and they can be) a great and rewarding nuclear or viral reaction takes place rewarding the marketer with traffic!

Social networking for the affiliate marketer is essential. Your powerhouse of sales happens when you have mastered social media!
