Video Marketing Essentials

When YouTube was introduced, it practically changed the way that marketing was done over the internet practically overnight. Because of the service, anyone who has a computer and a webcam can share their videos online without any extra expenses. Those that have worked with films and presentations before will tell you that YouTube has been somewhat of a godsend to them.

Before the advent of YouTube, it was pretty much prohibitively expensive to host your own videos online because of bandwidth concerns. While it may not sound like much of an issue today, bandwidth was really expensive before streaming services became freely available. Everything changed when YouTube provided the service for free and expensive hosting services for videos became obsolete.

Because of the free service, the demand for data usage shot up, in response, the service providers had to offer attractive data packages for everyone in order to get their business. When YouTube launched, so did a lot of the unlimited data services, which was sort of a boon to internet users all around. Today, YouTube has become a staple in the toolbox of internet marketers all around.

There are quite a number of ways to fully utilize YouTube for online marketing, let us go over some of those methods. Some of these methods may simply be traffic driving methods while some are outright direct-to-the-point marketing, it is up to you to decide which method is right for you. The only thing that you have to remember is that YouTube is free to use and you can employ any of these methods to do your campaign.

* Viral Videos – This is the most popular method of driving traffic to your site with Video Marketing. Essentially, a viral video is something that’s so interesting or funny that people who view it will pass it on to their contacts. Only a few have been successful with creating real viral videos but the payouts are huge.

* Review vids – it’s a lot easier for people to make up their minds if they actually SEE the product that’s being reviewed. A video can convey better in a couple of minutes than what a wall of text as long as your arm can. Studies have also shown that people are more likely to buy something that has been reviewed this way as opposed to the traditional text reviews.

* Testimonials – This is a form of marketing that has really taken off with the advent of YouTube. Anyone can write a one or two line testimonial but nothing really quite says that a product is good than a well-done AV testimonial. More viewers/readers are inclined to believe a video testimonial about a product or service as opposed to just some text which may have just been written by a copywriter.

* Instructional Videos – Now this may not sound much like a video tool but it is actually one of the more popular methods of using YouTube for video marketing. By posting instructions in this format, you’re giving free information away and thus strengthening your reputation. It cultivates the thought that if you can give such great information away then whatever you’re charging for must be really worth it.
