When I Was An Inexperienced Lad, I Bought A Book Which Destroyed My Life
Joe Karbo ruined my life. You might consider that an alarming opening to one of my missives which are normally buoyant and cheery (I hope) and regular readers might say “hold on, do you not you refer to spivs, fraudsters and thieves Jim Akin (of Swainston Hall, The Wynd, TS22 5QE in case of confusion in case of other Jim Akin’s) and his verminous brother John Akin, directors of Kalmindon Ltd?” And I don’t actually, the blot that couple left on my life was a sour irritation. No, if I had not found Joe Karbo as an innocent lad of about 18, I probably would not have crossed the range of the Brothers Grim and I would still have the 3000 they conned out of me. Mind you, then I probably wouldn’t have discovered and learned search engine optimisation which I love, but hey ho.
No, Joe Karbo produced a book called The Lazy Man’s Guide To Riches and I went through it and it gave me hope. The swine! It was mainly a book about how to set up, operate and maintain a mail order business, but before you got to that, Joe outlineda mind system he named Dyna/Psyc which was a way of getting the subconscious to find solutions to problems in a comparable way to transcendental meditation, and was essentially the first self-help book I read. Much of the book is out of date today in its original form, but the modern mail order version of it is to be discovered in affiliate marketing, which has an extremely close symbiosis with SEO and lo and behold, when I came across the book the other day, I realised I am still trying after all this time.
The problem I have in hindsight with old Joe, is that he put the thought in my head that I could be much better off working for myself and operating a firm instead of following the company career direction. This has persuaded me to attempt several ideas, many of which never got off the ground, but included things like personalise greetings cards, Mongolian barbeque restaurant, online takeaway restaurant ordering and my present project, an affiliate marketing fishing shop.
I also probably wouldn’t have got involved in the Amway plan through which I came across a steady flow of self-help books and I adored them, I learned me so much about having a cheerful mindset, self confidence and belief in myself. In fact, if I had not learned that, I almost certainly would never have taken the lead to go into IT freelancing and hugely raising my income by offering my abilities to their best effect. Those skills are redundant for the British market these days, but they took me all over the country as well as a fabulous happy year in Australia. My latest skills in SEO are very much current and, in my opinion, critical to anybody who runs a website and needs it to be viewed if they expect to do business through it. Like my affiliate marketing for instance.
So, as you can see, Joe Karbo ruined my life. Thanks old boy, I am truly grateful in every way for what you did for me and I would not have amended a thing and never intend giving up.
